Details

The Koenders Double Diaphragm Windmill Aeration System is our most powerful wind-driven aerator, built for larger ponds and sites that need more air or more than one aeration point. Its double diaphragm compressor feeds two airstones through a two-way valve, delivering bottom-up aeration that circulates the whole pond, prevents stratification and stagnant water, and helps stop turnover and winter fish kills, with no electricity and no chemicals.

The double diaphragm system suits larger or deeper ponds and lets you aerate two locations at once for better coverage.

Features and benefits

  • Wind powered, with no electricity or ongoing energy costs
  • Double diaphragm compressor for larger ponds and higher air volume
  • Runs two airstones through a two-way valve for wider coverage
  • Bottom-up aeration that circulates the full water column
  • Helps prevent stagnant water, pond turnover and fish kills
  • Galvanized tower and components built for harsh outdoor conditions
  • Backed by a full 1 year warranty

What is included

Every Double Diaphragm system includes the windmill head with a 26 inch blade and tail box, a double diaphragm air compressor, two airstone diffusers, two foot valves, a two-way selector valve, and 200 feet of 3/8 inch polytubing airline. Taller towers add stacking tower box sections:

  • 12 ft: 8 ft and 12 ft tower boxes
  • 16 ft: 8, 12 and 16 ft tower boxes
  • 20 ft: 8, 12, 16 and 20 ft tower boxes
  • 24 ft: 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24 ft tower boxes

Choosing your tower height

Taller towers reach cleaner, steadier wind, so choose based on your site. Open, exposed sites can use a shorter tower, while sites with trees, buildings or rolling terrain benefit from a taller tower to clear the turbulence. If you are unsure, contact our team and we will help you size the right system.

Why the double diaphragm

Built for larger ponds and two aeration points

A single-diaphragm windmill or an undersized aerator can leave a big pond partly stagnant. The double diaphragm system moves more air and lets you place two airstones for wider coverage.

Undersized or single-point aeration

One diffuser, limited air

  • Lower air volume for a larger or deeper pond
  • A single aeration point can leave areas stagnant
  • Electric systems add ongoing energy costs
  • Chemical treatments only mask the underlying problem

Double diaphragm windmill

More air, two aeration points

  • Double diaphragm compressor for higher air volume
  • Runs two airstones through a two-way valve
  • Bottom-up aeration circulates the full water column
  • Runs on wind, with no electricity or chemicals

What it does

Wind-driven aeration for larger ponds

The double diaphragm windmill is the most powerful wind-driven aerator in the Koenders lineup, sized for larger ponds and sites that need more air or more than one aeration point.

Powered by wind alone

Runs on wind with no electricity and no ongoing energy costs, so it keeps working in remote locations off the grid.

Two airstones, wider coverage

A double diaphragm compressor feeds two airstones through a two-way valve, letting you aerate two locations at once for better coverage.

Circulates the whole pond

Bottom-up aeration circulates the full water column, preventing stratification and stagnant water throughout the pond.

Helps prevent fish kills

By keeping water moving and oxygenated, it helps stop pond turnover and winter fish kills without chemicals.

Built for harsh weather

The galvanized tower and components are built to hold up in harsh outdoor conditions season after season.

Chemical-free by design

Delivers cleaner water through circulation and oxygen rather than chemical treatments that only mask the problem.

Questions

Double diaphragm windmill FAQ

Answers to common questions about how the system works, what comes in the box, and how to size it.

Does the windmill aerator need electricity?
No. It is powered entirely by wind, so there is no electricity required and no ongoing energy costs. That makes it suitable for remote ponds without power access.
What makes the double diaphragm system different from a single diaphragm windmill?
The double diaphragm compressor moves a higher volume of air and runs two airstones through a two-way valve. It is built for larger or deeper ponds and lets you aerate two locations at once for wider coverage.
What is included with the system?
Each system includes the windmill head with a 26 inch blade and tail box, a double diaphragm air compressor, two airstone diffusers, two foot valves, a two-way selector valve, and 200 feet of 3/8 inch polytubing airline. Taller towers add stacking tower box sections.
How does aeration help my pond?
It delivers bottom-up aeration that circulates the full water column. This prevents stratification and stagnant water and helps stop pond turnover and winter fish kills, all without chemicals.
Which tower height should I choose?
Taller towers reach cleaner, steadier wind. Open, exposed sites can use a shorter tower, while sites with trees, buildings or rolling terrain benefit from a taller tower to clear the turbulence. The system is offered in 12, 16, 20 and 24 ft towers.
What if I am not sure how to size the system?
If you are unsure which tower height fits your site, contact our team and we will help you size the right system.
